International Resources and Opportunities: Training Costumers in Odessa, Ukraine: How Copying, Copying, and More Copying Builds a Foundation for Creative Work 12:00 pm - 1:30 pm

The session will show the step-by-step training of costumers and other craft persons at the Odessa Artistic Theatrical College, exhibiting student’s beginning work in drawing and sewing, their exquisite work in portraiture, sculpture, and rendering, their painstaking replication of historical fabrics, and their final thesis projects. The session will include opportunities to examine firsthand the thesis work and a large collection of historical fabric replicated by Ukrainian students as part of their training.

A look back at Scenofest 2007. Scenofest provides students, young practitioners, teachers and experienced professionals with unparalleled theatre design experiences. Come see what happened at PQ2007. The theme was Aristophanes' The Birds and they really flew!

Technical Practice in World Theatre 12:15 pm - 1:35 pm

While many production challenges for live performance are similar throughout the world, specific local and national conditions nevertheless confront practitioners of the technical disciplines. A group of technical directors and theatre consultants from outside the US will discuss their experiences with these challenges and will offer their views as to how the solutions might apply to production everywhere.

PQ 2007 Golden Triga Award, Russia 12:15 pm - 1:35 pm

Danila Korogodsky, a native of Russia now Professor of stage design at California State University Long Beach will present the PQ 2007 Russian National Exhibit, which was awarded the Golden Triga. He will profile the designers included in the context of contemporary design in Russia.

PQ Gold Medal for Scene Design: João Mendes Ribeiro, Portugal 2:30 pm - 3:50 pm

Alexandra Pinho, from the Portugese Ministry of Culture will present examples of Mr. Ribeiro's scenic designs from the PQ exhibition. In designating this award, the jury commendation stated Mr. Ribeiro is an architect who truly understands theatrical space. An exhibit of his work is also on display at the Stage Expo.
