This EHS Academy will address the unique combination of environmental health and safety concerns faced by individuals involved or employed in live performance. Particularly in performing arts programs in educational institutions (whether primary, secondary or post secondary), there are distinct populations – faculty, staff, artists, students who are minors – as well as exceptional safety and health challenges that are not faced by most other organizations and companies. Combine these populations and special challenges with the incredible variety of activities that occur in conjunction with any live performance and the incidence of environmental safety and health problems grow exponentially. The renown expert faculty for the EHS Academy, led by Dr. Robert Emery – Assistant Vice President for Safety, Health, Environment & Risk Management at University of Texas Health Science Center Houston, will address many of the most pressing health and safety concerns faced by those engaged in live performance. Topics will include: “I’m breathing what?” Respiratory Protection and Air Quality; Biological Safety Basics - Blood Borne Pathogens Beware!; Sick Shops: Controlling Contaminants; “Do you know what that might be doing to you?” – Common Production Materials in Theater & Toxicology; How to get your Administration to sit up at take notice of your EHS concerns; and several more. |

Find out what all of those little buttons on various cameras actually do! See what Adobe Photoshop can do to enhance those photographs. This will be a hands on workshop. Each participant will need to bring a digital camera and computer with Adobe Photoshop installed on it.
