Opportunities for Students

USITT's Conference offers many diverse opportunities for its student members. All events have differing requirements, so please review the information carefully. As applications become available they will be linked to this page.

Sapsis Rigging Professional Development Award - closed for 2008

Three students who sign up for the Professional Development Workshop, Stage Rigging with Jay Glerum, will be eligible for the Sapsis Rigging Professional Development Award for 2008. For more information on the PDW, click here.

Bill Sapsis and his colleagues at Sapsis Rigging are providing this significant level of assistance for three students who register for the PDW before the Early Deadline of February 14, 2008.

There is no application process. All that is necessary is for students to register for the Stage Rigging PDW by the February 14 date. Three will be chosen at random by the USITT office and have their PDW fees refunded.

USITT greatly appreciates the support of professional development for student members which Sapsis Rigging is again underwriting in 2008.

Stage Management Mentoring Project - applications closed for 2008

Applications were closed December 28, 2007. from students and young professionals who want to help coordinate major Conference events.

  • Notification by late January 2008

Young Designers' Forum - applications closed for 2008

The Young Designers' Forum is a special program which brings together talented students with established designers.

After a juried assessment process, only 15 students are selected as participants. The program deadline was January 8, 2008 Those who are chosen submit their work for review and discussion with established designers and directors, and the work will then be on display to all who attend the Conference.

  • Must be a member of USITT
  • Conference registration fee refunded if selected

H & H Specialties Student Conference Support - applications closed for 2008

H & H Specialties provided Conference registration support for six student members who have been USITT members for at least one year and who register for the Annual Conference & Stage Expo before the Very Early Registration deadline. No application forms are used. Students are chosen at random from all those eligible.

Registration fees will be refunded for those selected. Winners will be notified in early 2008.

Awards for Young Designers & Technicians - applications closed for 2008

Each year USITT honors those who are just embarking on their professional careers with Awards for Young Designers & Technicians in the Performing Arts. The awards are presented as part of the Annual Conference. All nominations for the awards must be made by members of the Institute.

Student Volunteer Program -- applications closed for 2008

The Student Volunteer Program was open to current student members and students who wish to join USITT and apply for the program at the same time. Applications were accepted until December 6, the Very Early conference registration deadline.

Student volunteers MUST be current USITT members.

Students may only sign up for one of the following:
