This hands-on session will expose participants to the process and functions of grant writing. The first part of the workshop will introduce participants to the basics of writing a strong narrative, creating a clean project budget, and determining effective partnerships for writing those proposals.
Participants will learn how to find well-matched granting organizations through the philanthropy databases of associations such as The Foundation Center and Foundations.org. The second part of the workshop will entail hands-on work in breakout groups with the goal of crafting and refining grant proposal narratives.
By the end of the day, each participant will complete a sample request for funding that can be adapted for future grant applications or for generating a letter of intent to a potential funding organization.
