Rising Star Award

The 2009 Rising Star nomination and submission process is now closed.

The Rising Star Award, established by LDI and LiveDesign magazine, is given annually to a young professional at the beginning of his or her career. The award recognizes excellence and artistic achievement in the areas of scenic, lighting, sound, and projection design, or the convergence of these design disciplines. Recipients must be in the first four years of professional (non-academic) work following the completion of his or her highest degree.

Information on the 2010 Award


The Prize

The 2010 Rising Star Award winner will receive $1,000, a one-year individual membership in USITT, and a complimentary conference registration to the 2010 Annual Conference & Stage Expo.

Requirements and Criteria

Current USITT members are invited to nominate deserving young professionals for this award. Nominees must be in their first four years of professional (non-academic) work following the completion of their highest degree.

Successful nominees will demonstrate their professional accomplishments through the submission of a current professional resume or web site, submission of no more than eight (8) representative samples of their work, and two letters of support.

Nominees are judged for the range of knowledge displayed and for the best integration of skills, craft and artistry.

Timeline

Nominations must be submitted online and received in the USITT office by October 16, 2009.

Approved nominees will be able to log in to the online portfolio submission pages through November 30, 2009. Please contact the USITT office if you have any questions about how to submit your portfolio.

The Rising Star Award will be presented at the 50th USITT Annual Conference & Stage Expo in Kansas City, Missouri.
