Criteria & Guidelines

With input from initial participants it was revised in 2015 to improve the learning experience for participants.

Participants can be from anywhere in the United States and have a desire to learn more about what it means to serve on a Board of Directors. Participants complete an application and finalist participate in a phone interview.

Participants, referred to as mentees, receive support to attend meetings of the Board of Directors and to participate as non-voting members in all discussions and committee work.

Mentees begin their 15 month experience at USITT's spring board meeting held in conjunction with the Annual Conference. They receive orientation with incoming board members and then serve a one year term beginning July 1 of that year.
