Mission Statement for USITT'S Commissions
"The function of the USITT Commissions
is to conduct and encourage communication of and about
shared interests of the membership by providing forums
for professional growth through conference programming,
by developing research projects, and by collecting and
disseminating information."

Commissions are groups of USITT members
with shared interests. Commissions are the major source
of programming for the Annual Conference. They also
support many additional Commission-related activities including
symposia and publications often
through the Commissioner's Fund.
The Commissioner's Fund is a Board-designated unrestricted
fund used to support special Commission activities. This fund
consists of the net income from Commission-sponsored Professional
Development Workshops (PDWs), typically held in conjunction
with the USITT Annual Conference & Stage Expo. The purpose
of the fund is two-fold:
- To fund Commission projects
that require initial funding out of cycle with the
normal budget timetable;
- To fund unanticipated overages
in Commission budgets would the need arise. Information
regarding making application for such funding can
be obtained by contacting the Vice-President for Commissions.
Leadership is provided by Commissioners who are appointed
by the USITT President in collaboration with the Vice-President
for Commissions. Commissioners in turn appoint vice-commissioners,
advisory committees, and project leaders, as well as liaisons
to other groups.
