Statement: The Costume Program in the School of Drama offers rigorous conservatory training with strong mentorship by working professionals dedicated to the preparation of students for careers in the costume industry. Tsu offers a strong foundation in design, research skills, drawing and painting, while Anderson offers courses in construction, history and works with students on television and film projects. Narelle Sissons offers Scenography Courses and Ken Chu, newly appointed as Shop Manager, brings impressive professional credentials to the costume area. Master Draper, Marianne Krostyne also joins the costume staff. Ample design opportunities exist in theatre, musical theatre, dance, opera, television and new plays. Links with area theatres provide professional opportunities as designers and assistants. Built in 1999, the Purnell Center for the Arts boasts spacious state of the arts facilities with natural light in all rooms, including a spacious costume shop. Renown alumni in film, television, and theatre work with students annually on projects and form a devoted hiring network for recent graduates.
