Statement: Columbus State University's Department of Theatre is a growing undergraduate program currently serving approximately 150 majors. The BFA degree has separate tracks in Performance/Directing and Design/Technology. Courses offered in the area of Costume Design and Construction include: Fundamentals of Theatre Technology, Costume Construction, Basic Design, Period Styles in Design, Costume Design, Costume Accessories, Patterning and Draping and Stage Makeup. Special interests of the individual student can be addressed in Theatre Production, Independent Study and Special Topics courses. A $30 million CSU Theatre and Art complex opened in the downtown Columbus area in January 2007. The state-of-the-art facilites include a fully-equipped costume shop with separate storage, laundry, and dye areas and serves productions in a 350 -seat proscenium theatre and a flexible "black box" theatre seating up to 200. Student Assistantships and Work Study positions are available in the Costume Shop in addition to general Departmental scholarships.
