| Statement:
Courses offered in Costume Construction, Fundamentals of Design, Costume Design, History of Costume and Fashion, Makeup and Scenography. Our emphasis in the department is on a liberal arts education, with a strong focus on preparation for graduate work. Many opportunities exist for realized student design work, as well as heavy involovement in all levels of construction. Our mainstage productions include a studio show, proscenium mainstage show (usually period), and a musical each year, any of which may be designed by an advanced student. Many student-produced shows are done each year, which are exclusively designed by students of all levels. Employees of the costume studio regularly work at cutting, crafts and dye work, and opportunities are available for pattern making. We are a small, but enthusiastic department.
