Statement: NCSA offers a unique and comprehensive conservatory-style training program that emphasizes hands-on experience in theatre, opera, dance and film. MFA and BFA students fill all positions to design and execute costumes for 10-15 fully staged shows a year. Six resident faculty members, all working professionals, teach a demanding curriculum designed to prepare students for successful careers in the entertainment industry. Studio and lab classes taught include 6 levels ( BFA, 3 MFA) of yearlong courses in both costume design and costume technology. Production hours are spent working in a 9000 square foot Costume/Wig/Makeup Studio completed in 2005 and five different state-of-the-art theatrical spaces. The program enables the student to graduate with a impressive portfolio of rendering as well as photography of realized designs. The Wig and makeup program offers comparable experience.
