| Statement:
Students in the Professional Training Program in Design/Technology at Purchase College benefit from a carefully balanced combination of studio/classroom training and realized production work under the guidance of established working professionals. Students experience and learn a wide range of design and technical concepts that are currently being used in theatre, opera, dance, film, video and other related areas. The freshman year provides students the opportunity to develop a solid foundation that is necessary to move forward in one of the highly focused areas of concentration. Students are invited to continue within the program and to specialize after they have demonstrated an appropriate level of ability. Advanced study and practice occupies the second, third and fourth years. Concurrent with these studies, a balance of liberal arts courses is also required to equip the candidate to function as a theatre professional and an intelligent adult.
