USITT Presents: Safety & Rigging in Hawaii

USITT is offering four days of classes in Honolulu, Hawaii, September 11-14, 2017. OSHA 10 General Entertainment Safety will be held Monday and Tuesday, September 11-12. Theatrical Rigging Training – Procedures & Safety will be held Wednesday and Thursday September 13-14. Both classes will be held at the Neal S. Blaisdell Center near downtown Honolulu.

This customized OSHA 10 training is brought to you by the IATSE Entertainment and Exhibition Industries Training Trust Fund and USITT as a part of the alliance between these organizations and OSHA. The OSHA 10-hour program provides a variety of training on general industry safety and health regulations for both entry-level and experienced workers. Upon completion of both days you will have earned your OSHA 10 card. It covers OSHA policies, procedures, and standards, as well as general industry safety and health principles. Topics include scope and application of the OSHA general industry standards. Special emphasis is placed on those areas that are the most hazardous, using OSHA standards as a guide. This training is customized for and uses examples from the Entertainment Industry.

    Joe Aldridge is the coordinator for the Entertainment Engineering and Design B.S. at the University of Nevada Las Vegas. He represents USITT on the ETCP Council and sits on the executive committee of that organization. He is a trustee and the Chairman of the NRA/IATSE Local 720 Training Trust in Las Vegas. He is also a founding member of the IATSE Crafts Advancement Program Steering Committee.
  • Eddie Raymond - ETCP Recognized Trainer 
    Eddie Raymond has been a stagehand with Local 16 of the IATSE since 1975. Currently he serves the IATSE as a member of their Craft Advancement Program, providing training and advising the IA’s Exhibition and Entertainment Joint Training Trust and as a Safety in Entertainment Instructor.  Eddie was a co-chair of ESTA’s ETCP rigging certification program and sits as a member of the ETCP Council. He is the Past-President of ESTA’s Board of Directors and sits on d the Behind The Scenes Foundation Board of Directors.

This theatrical rigging course is ideal for entry level riggers, individuals that need to refresh or update their procedures, and secondary educators that work with auditorium rigging.  If you have ever wanted to know how to fly scenery, or to reinforce those skills that you already have, this is the course for you.
