General Manager, Music Facilities & Bridges Hall of Music

POSITION SUMMARY:  The General Manager, Music Facilities & Bridges Hall of Music has primary oversight of the scheduling and use of Bridges Hall of Music.  During recesses in the academic calendar, the General Manager works in conjunction with Conference and Event Planning.  The General Manager receives and accommodates requests to use the hall, ensures access, communicates policies of safety and crowd control, and teams with the Music Department’s Music Technologist to provide amplification or other technical support as needed.

As the General Manager, Music Facilities & Bridges Hall of Music, the person in this position provides similar leadership for all rooms housed in the Thatcher Music Building, including but not limited to Lyman Hall, Bryant Hall, and the larger multi-purpose rooms; those rooms in Rembrandt Hall that are used primarily or extensively by the Music Department; and Carolyn Lyon Garden.  The person in this position also supervises up to 30 student workers, who are per-service house managers for Bridges Hall events or staff for the Montgomery Music Library.

 

QUALIFICATIONS:  Bachelor’s degree in a liberal arts-field or in a related area such as arts administration, business administration, or equivalent combination of relevant education and experience required.  Background in classical music preferred. Master’s degree in music or an administrative field preferred.  A valid driver’s license or equivalent means of reliable transportation to off-site meetings and events is required.  A minimum of 2-5 years of comparable experience with increasing responsibility.  Experience at an academic institution is preferred.

 

REQUIRED HOURS: The regular hours for this full time position are at least 40 hours per week on a variable schedule.  Holiday, weekend and evening work hours will be required.  Travel may be required.  Regular hours may vary due to needs of the College or division.  A regular presence during standard work hours must also be maintained. 

 

ADDITIONAL POSITION DETAILS:  Regular, full-time, exempt.  Starting pay rate: $6,758.16 per month.
