The School of Music and Performing Arts at the University of Louisiana at Lafayette invites applications for an Assistant Professor of Costume beginning August 1st 2024.
This is a (10 month) tenure-track faculty position. The Program typically produces two to three mainstage Theatre productions, two Dance shows, and supports the UL Opera’s two productions, each year.

Responsibilities include teaching courses in costume design and construction, stage make-up, and other related courses within the unit. Applicants are expected to have a robust creative record, be active educators in their field, serve as mentors to students, work with colleagues to assess and improve curricula, conduct research and/or creative activity in respective area of specialization, and active engagement at the departmental, college, university, community, and professional levels. Collaborative ability in designing and constructing costumes for theatre and dance productions, professionalism, collegiality, and excellent organizational and communication skills are essential. Minimum qualifications include Master’s degree in Theatre or Bachelor’s degree with significant professional experience. Preferred qualifications include MFA in Costume Design and 2+ years of teaching experience at the collegiate level.
