Assistant Professor, Lighting Designer
The University of Georgia Department of Theatre and Film Studies seeks an Assistant Professor of Lighting Design in a tenure-track position beginning in August, 2020. The candidate will teach courses at both the undergraduate and graduate level in lighting design and technology, design foundations, and other courses within the candidate’s areas of specialization. The preferred candidate would have a secondary area of specialization in either projection design, sound design, or stage management. The candidate will design 1-2 departmental productions a year, advise and recruit students, supervise student production designs and theses, and participate in curriculum development and other departmental activities, and will be expected to maintain an active professional presence as a designer on productions of national significance.
QUALIFICATIONS: MFA, PhD, or equivalent terminal degree with at least 3-5 years of professional design experience and 1-3 years of teaching at the university level. Must be currently legally eligible to work in the United States. Preference given to members of Local United Scenic Artist 829 Union.
