Summary

Northern Arizona University Department of Theatre seeks full-time Assistant Professor of Practice (Non-tenure eligible) in scenic design & technology. Nine-month renewable appointment, August 2020-May 2021). Duties: teaching 2-3 classes per semester in stage craft, hand drafting & model building, scenic design, & other related classes as determined by the chair; provide scenic and properties design or mentor student designers for 4 mainstage productions per year; knowledge of and active participation, alongside professional TD and students, in the construction, painting, and dressing of all sets and properties. Expectations: effective collaboration with faculty and student production teams, significant commitment to student mentorship/guidance, understanding of and commitment to a liberal studies education, commitment to the undergraduate Theatre production experience, and demonstrated commitment to diversity. Minimum qualifications: MFA in Scenic Design, 3 years University teaching OR 3 years combination teaching & professional experience. Preferred qualifications: Ability & readiness to design and/or teach in a secondary design area, especially lighting, media, and/or sound design or stage management.
