Summary

Teach courses in Scenic Design and related areas for undergraduate and graduate students. This position monitors, instructs, and performs hands-on work in scenic art and props with undergraduate and graduate crews that are responsible for associated elements on department productions. Serve as faculty mentor for undergraduate and graduate Scenic Design students. Assist in administering Design and Technical Production activities associated with the position. The incumbent will typically be Scenic Designer for one production per semester. Participation in recruitment, advising, committee work, and service to the university are required. External creative/research activities at the national and/or international level is expected of the successful candidate.

There will be Zoom interviews of selected applicants followed by more in depth interviews and presentations which will proceed virtually or in-person, depending on how the pandemic has evolved by that time.

Requirements

• MFA or PhD in Theatre.
• Record of successful teaching at the college and/or university level.
• Record of significant Scenic Design experience.
• Hands-on experience in scenic art and properties fabrication.
• Ability to communicate effectively with students and colleagues in a collaborative environment.
• Must demonstrate a clear commitment to multiple pedagogical and design approaches, and a record of work of an inclusive, multicultural perspective.
