Assistant Professor of Theatre
Frostburg State University, Department of Theatre and Dance, seeks applications for a full-time, tenure-track Assistant Professor of Theatre position in the area of Costume and Scenic Design to begin Fall 2020. Salary commensurate with qualifications and experience; University System of Maryland benefits package included.
Responsibilities: Teach introductory theatre courses as well as introductory and specialized courses in Costume Design and Scenic Design. Design and supervise crews for university productions, mentor student designers, and work side-by-side with production teams. Take an active role in recruitment for the major and the Design and Technology track. Faculty members at FSU are expected to actively participate in the University’s student-learning–assessment program.
Minimum Qualifications: MFA in Costume Design or Scenic Design with demonstrated interest in the other area, as well as other design disciplines. College level teaching and/or professional experience. An understanding of performing arts in the context of a liberal arts education. We are seeking applicants with interest in one or more of the following areas: costume technologies, hair and make-up, marketing for the designer/technician, properties design and/or scenic painting.
