Southwest Scenic Group is currently accepting resumes for an experienced scenic artist/faux finisher to work in our paint and finishes department.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Creating Textures and color samples from the designed model or idealization of clients.
Produce specialty finishes using Faux-finish techniques (wood-grain, stone, concrete, brick, metal, stained glass, or other faux finishes.
Maintain working knowledge of color theory, paints, types, and applications.
Ability to read and understand client renderings, idealizations, intent, and paint draw downs.
Match existing color and design novel finishes, automotive/urethane type paint application (single-stage and base-clear) as well as Clear-coat applications (polyurethane, lacquer, etc.)
Utilization of brushes, rollers, and spray guns to apply paints, stains, enamels, clear coats, varnishes, lacquers, or other protective or decorative materials on a wide variety of surfaces, such as wood, metal, steel, glass, plaster, brick, stucco, cement, and wallboard.
Ability to select required prep for all substrate surfaces for painting using various methods including patching, sanding, filing, priming, and washing; depending on the surfaces as named above.
Display a willingness to learn new skills and building methods.
Uphold and maintain quality control measures and a clean work environment.

Above average communication and comprehension skills to follow safety regulations, instruction, and interpreting fabrication and installation drawings.
Must have an advanced understanding of painting procedures, steps, and applications.

2+ years of verifiable experience in scenic/theme painting.
Artistic ability, general concept of shape and form with highlights and shadows.
Ability to match existing and new finishes.
Comprehension of general scenic paint terminology and techniques.
Safety focused. Attention to detail.
Valid Drivers License.

Monday through Friday 7:30-3:30
Overtime as needed by project, can include weekends as the schedule requires.
