The Theatre and Dance Department at Middle Tennessee State University invites applicants for a coordinator-track faculty position at the rank of instructor. Start date is January 1, 2025.
The successful candidate will be responsible for teaching studio and academic courses such as Lighting Technology, Lighting Design, and Introduction to Theatre. They will serve as the production electrician for the department's production season of 6-8 mainstage theatre and dance productions annually; supervise and mentor lighting technology and design students; coordinate/oversee the execution of all MTSU Theatre and Dance lighting needs; and maintain theatre lighting facilities and equipment inventory. Additional teaching opportunities will be based on specialty training areas, may include lighting design and design for the production season. Applicants with previous university teaching experience in lighting and those with a secondary focus in rigging, projection design/technology, or a closely related area will receive special consideration.
Master's degree in theatre or closely related field. Bachelor's degree in theatre or closely related field with five (5) years of directly related industry experience in lighting may be considered.
