JMP was established in 1989 to meet the growing demand for experienced corporate event planning and production. Today, we are a full service event production company specializing in scenery and stagecraft.
Successful production designers at JMP translate a client’s ideas into a creative design that maximizes space, meets budget parameters and exceeds client expectations. Responsibilities include preparing detailed project documents (facility plans, 3D renderings, build drawings, and work orders), vendor negotiating , developing accurate budgets, and professionally communicating with clients. Additionally, PDs act as the on-site representative for JMP, overseeing the safe installation/strike of an event’s scenic elements, the safe operation of all project equipment, the management of on-site labor crews and communication with clients regarding on-site decisions. You will work collaboratively with our Construction Manager, Creative Illustrators, Project Managers, and Lead Installers to oversee and coordinate all aspects of a production. Occasional travel required. Position is located in Oakland, CA.
Minimum two years experience managing events, preparing budgets and CAD drawings for projects of various sizes and complexity
Computer proficiency (File Maker Pro, Adobe, G Suite, Asana)
CAD (Vector Works, or equivalent)
Experience in scenic construction and lighting design
Effective management skills (works calmly under demanding deadlines, strong team collaborator, efficient time management)
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Punctual and professional in attitude and appearance
Able to self manage & execute daily responsibilities
Friendly, outgoing, & dedicated
Advanced degree in Technical Theater (Preferred)
Exhibit work for Trade shows or Museums is a plus
