About the Position
The Production Rigger will have strong leadership and technical skills, work well under short time constraints, and be able to pivot easily from one task or idea to another. They should be experienced in all aspects of production rigging. Theater, music, and event production experience is essential, as is an open, creative approach to the production process. Sensitivity to varying artists’ and clients’ needs and patience amidst changing priorities will help immeasurably in this position. The desire to create a world-class production installation is key to success in this position.
-Work with the Producing team to produce Budgets reflecting the scope of work from the rigging perspective.
-Discern Crew size based on the needs of the project
-Perform and or supervise all the responsibilities of the Event Rigging process.
-Represent BNW Rigging to designers, visiting crews, and management staff by creating a cordial, cooperative, and welcoming atmosphere.
-Supervise rigging department as required in the installation and operation of the rigging necessary for production.
-Identify and engage crew as approved by management for the filling of work calls
-Attend production meetings and notes sessions as requested by management
-Maintain a safe working environment in the context of the production design.
-Alert management of any personnel, technical, or safety issues that may arise and ensure that proper safety procedures are followed.
-Oversee the inspection process by ANSI, OSHA, and BNW
-Previous experience of five years or more as a Head Rigger or Assistant Head Rigger in legitimate theater production or a legitimate theatrical venue or an arena
-ETCP Arena Rigging Certification required
-Awareness of capacity and proper usage of Rigging gear.
-Able to lift 50 pounds or more occasionally and 30 pounds frequently
-Physical ability to stay on one’s feet (standing, walking) for long days (16 hours), multiple days in a row
-Ability to work a very flexible schedule with extreme hours at times
-Ability to work in tight spaces
-Ability to work at height
-A competent person in the use of Fall Protection.
