Lead the scenic and paint staff in the safe and effective creation of scenic designs for StageOne’s season
Principal Responsibilities
● Lead and implement the construction, transportation, installation, maintenance and removal of scenery
● Ensure safe working conditions, maintain an environment where safety comes first
● Participate in the creative, production, and construction process
● Manage material and labor budgets
● Work with Production Coordinator to create design and construction timelines and to hire
and supervise production staff
● Create cost estimate prior to beginning construction
● Ensure design specifications meet fire and ADA codes, venue requirements, and pose no
threat to performers, crew or audience
● Stay informed of safety issues regarding materials, equipment, and working environment
● Assist other departments as time and production needs demand
Minimum Qualifications
• Bachelor’s degree focused in technical theatre or equivalent experience
• Five years experience in theatrical scene shop preferred
• Ability to maneuver up to 50 lbs. repeatedly, either alone or with assistance • Experience drafting scenery for the stage
● Skills: carpentry, welding, rigging, drafting, valid driver’s license
