The Department of Theatre at Susquehanna seeks an Assistant Professor of Theatre in Lighting and Scenic Design. The successful candidate will teach three courses each semester which may include Scenic Production (painting/lighting practical application class), Scenic & Lighting Design, Introduction to Theatre, and a script analysis course. Responsibilities include creation of lighting and scenic designs for the department’s five-show main stage season or supervision of student lighting and scenic designers, execution and implementation of scenic painting and lighting plots, and basic maintenance of lighting equipment. Salary range $55,000-$59,000 depending on qualifications. The Department of Theatre offers a BA degree with emphases in Performance, Production & Design, and Theatre Studies, a BFA degree in Acting, and a BFA degree in Theatre Management.
The successful candidate will be competent in computer-aided drafting and design software, scenic painting, and stage electrician skills. The MFA in Theatre with a concentration in lighting and/or scenic design is required, and three years of undergraduate teaching is preferred.
