Tenure Track Faculty - Race in Set Design and Technology/Scenography
Sacramento State seeks a tenure-track faculty in Race in Set Design and Technology/Scenography whose creative practice and research are centered on antiracism and the role of designers as purveyors of cultural representation (i.e., designing space, makeup/hair, lighting, costume, sound, with diverse groups of people).Teaching includes 12-units per semester from selected courses: Production Design; LD Stagecraft, Lighting, and Dance Production; UD Scenic Design, Lighting Design, and Practicum in Tech Production; and student mentorship in independent projects. 3 additional units per semester will be assigned for advising, service, and scholarship.
- Education: M.F.A. or Ph.D or equivalent. ABD considered. If ABD, degree must be completed by time of appointment.
- Teaching experience at the University/Junior, Community or City College level, including guest artist-in-residence and part-time appointments.
- Evidence of teaching practical/theoretical, technical theatre, and/or theatre design courses.
-2+ years of Professional Design Experience (Including Graduate work) for a variety of theatrical productions.
-Demonstrated Skills in theatre technology via a portfolio/file.
-Experience teaching a diverse student body.
-Evidence of/strong interest in cross-cultural themes, social justice, and/or cultural representation in theatrical design and/or in creative/scholarly research.
