Summary

POSITION
A full-time faculty position in Theatre is available January or August 2025. We seek a broadly trained faculty member with strengths in theatrical design, construction, lighting and sound. All SC employees are expected to demonstrate a strong and articulate Christian faith, to model and mentor students in servant leadership and in the integration of faith into every aspect of life and learning.

RESPONSIBILITIES
• Teach a variety of courses, in addition to technical and design supervision of all theatre productions during the academic year along with management of the scene shop and student workers. Depending on experience and expertise, possible courses in a two-year rotation include Theatrical Design, Stagecraft I & II, Theatre History I and II, Oral Interpretation, Theatrical Lighting, Technical Drawing and supervision of student workers in the scene shop. Additional possible courses could include Introduction to Theatre and Stage Makeup.
• Co-sponsoring an annual trip alternating between New York (Broadway) and/or the American College Theatre Festival.
• Work with Sterling College Teacher Education and theatre/communication faculty to maintain Kansas State Board of Education and NCATE accreditation.
• Advise current students and recruit prospective students.

COMPENSATION
Salary and rank will be determined by credentials and experience applied to an established faculty salary scale and accompanying benefits.

Requirements

QUALIFICATIONS
• M.A., M.F.A. or PhD. Experience in teaching and technical design.
• Must have strong collaborative skills and musical theatre production experience.
• College teaching experience that demonstrates an understanding of the teaching/learning process.
• An understanding of an interdisciplinary approach to the liberal arts, and an ability to work with faculty from diverse disciplines.
• Experience in directing is considered a plus.
