End of an Era: Yamaha to Discontinue CL and QL Series Consoles

September 17, 2024

According to a statement dated September 12, 2024 on Yamaha Japan’s website (jp.yamaha.com), “we have decided to discontinue production of the CL and QL series digital mixing consoles and related options, which have been popular with our customers for many years. Both series have been highly praised by many customers and have been used in a wide variety of locations. We would like to express our sincere gratitude for your patronage. We will continue to strive to satisfy our customers. We hope for your continued patronage of Yamaha products.”

Part of the reason stems from the company’s success with its DM7 and Rivage lines, and Yamaha plans to assist customers in “seamlessly transitioning” from the CL or QL products to the newer DM7 and Rivage series. Interest in the CL consoles has been strong since their introduction, as evidenced by the video tour and demo of the CL5 at the 2012 NAB Show which drew an impressive 208,000 views on the FRONT of HOUSE FOH-TV page on YouTube.

The production of the CL series, QL series and related options is scheduled to end by March 2025. Orders will close as soon as the final stock is reached. For details on stock status, please contact your Yamaha dealer.
