Penn Elcom Launches New LED Tape Range

Penn Elcom launches a new own-branded, high-quality LED tape range, starting with four variants offering three different types of white – PRIMO, dim-to-warm and Dynamic (tuneable) – plus an RGBW COB (chip on board) for full color.

These combine great value with 5 or 7-year warranties, plus access to Penn Elcom’s outstanding technical service and support, available via a dedicated LED lighting team with over 30 years of industry experience working on high-profile architectural, commercial, hotel, residential and retail projects.

Penn Elcom’s vast pool of knowledge and practical application, plus an extensive research project related to options available on the market, helped fine-tune the development of these four LED tapes to start the own-brand range. All offer outstanding value and energy-efficient solutions.

“We looked at the already busy LED tape market and identified areas of demand where quality and good pricing could be optimized and improved,” commented Penn Elcom’s Sales & Marketing Director, Rob Platt.

Penn Elcom has a well-established in-house wiring department that has spent years cutting, soldering and assembling most of the premium LED tapes and LED strips on the market, so standards for the company’s own LED tape were always going to be exceptionally high.

Penn Elcom also leaned into its international manufacturing operations across the UK, USA and Asia and global distribution network for producing and offering these new products.

Sourcing the best quality chips and having cut-points in correct places along the tape was essential, together with offering the right connectors, efficiency and width ranges, combined with the best LED ‘chip binning’ and superior LED color stability.

“These new LED tape ranges are proudly Penn Elcom branded, underlining our confidence that they offer our customers the best possible options,” noted Rob.

PRIMO is a highly efficient warm white product that is perfect for low running costs – buildings, architectural, set dressing, etc. – with a lumen output of 1510 per meter from just 9 Watts power draw (per meter), an efficacy of 167 lm/W. This achieves energy efficiency class C under both UK and EU energy directives.

Dim-to-warm is great for creating cozy, warm, relaxed atmospheres. It dims from a 3000K warm white to an 1800K ‘candlelight amber’ with smooth dimming from 100% to 3%, recreating a classic halogen-style glow with LED efficiency.

Tuneable / dynamic white is a flexible solution offering adjustable warm to cool white in one strip between 2200K and 3500K, so from very warm candlelight to crisp balanced white, using 120 warm and 120 cold white chips per meter.

COB RGBW, dot-free offers seamless homogenized color changing with a chip-on-board construction producing a continuous line of light with no visible diodes and full RGBW color plus a dedicated 4000K white channel. PWM control options include Bluetooth, DALI, DMX or RF.

In addition to architectural, theatrical and commercial markets, the demand for LED tape has recently increased from case manufacturers – one of Penn Elcom’s core markets – who are branching out into more creative areas e.g. making mobile coffee carts and other food stalls, as well as from lighting, sound and video console manufacturers, who are integrating practical lighting as standard into their ranges.

Anyone purchasing Penn Elcom’s LED products also has access to the knowledge and expertise of the UK-based LED team who can be contacted for consultation on any related specification or other LED requirements.

They can assist in choosing the right products, compiling detailed technical data and quoting for the components required, together with cost-saving calculations if needed, as well as advising on drivers, wiring and lighting control.

With over 50 years of supplying innovative products for the entertainment, leisure and technical production business, Penn Elcom’s business model is grounded in strong and lasting partnerships, and it has become a well-known, trusted and forward-thinking brand with a reputation for quality, reliability and a place where teamwork, know-how, collaboration and communication thrive.
