Sound Vision Lights (S.V.L.), a lighting rental and production company based in Mykonos, Greece, has expanded its lighting inventory with a significant investment in Elation fixtures and Obsidian Control Systems lighting control. The new equipment was immediately put to use during a musical conservatory performance at the intimate Gryparion Theater, where S.V.L.’s Achilleas Piperidis served as lighting designer and programmer.
The investment includes Elation’s REBEL PROFILE, FUZE PROFILE, KL PAR FC, and SŌL I Blinder fixtures, along with the NX1 lighting console from Obsidian Control Systems, supported by the NX P playback wing and NX K keypad. To complete the system, S.V.L. also added NETRON EN12, NS8, and RDM 6IP data distribution devices, ensuring robust and reliable networking.

REBEL PROFILE: Compact Power Built for Island Conditions
An essential component of S.V.L.’s purchase is the REBEL PROFILE, a compact yet powerful IP65-rated LED profile fixture that has quickly become a favorite with Piperidis.
“I chose Elation because they provide excellent color and robust construction,” Piperidis explained. “We need devices that can endure the difficult island conditions here on Mykonos. In the summer, humidity makes everything wet at night, and by morning temperatures can exceed 37 degrees Celsius.”
Before committing to the purchase, Piperidis thoroughly tested the REBEL PROFILE after receiving a demo unit from Michael Kontogiannis of Panou SA, Elation’s distributor in Greece.
“From the first look, I really liked several things,” he said. “It has fantastic color mixing, and even at 22,000 lumens, the intensity never ruins the color.”
He also cited the fixture’s compact size for a 550W IP65-rated unit, excellent build quality, minimal operating noise, and advanced feature set as key decision factors.
“The framing system is excellent, the zoom range is very wide, and the fixture includes two gobo wheels, animation, and dual prisms, which gives you a lot of creative flexibility. And even in full mode, it’s very quiet.”

Gryparion Theater Performance
The newly acquired Elation fixtures made their debut in mid-December during a musical conservatory performance at the cozy Gryparion Theater.
FUZE PROFILE LED moving heads with framing, and KL PAR FC full-spectrum Par lights were installed on the upper balcony, where they handled front lighting duties. “I paired them because they share the same RGBMA color palette,” said Piperidis. “That consistency was essential since they were responsible for lighting the performers.”
KL PAR FC fixtures equipped with 11-degree lenses were positioned in fixed locations, while additional units with 22-degree lenses provided general stage coverage. The FUZE PROFILE fixtures were programmed with cooler color temperatures than the KL units, providing front lighting with depth and contrast throughout the performance.
On stage, the design centered on compact full-spectrum SŌL I Blinders and REBEL PROFILE fixtures.
“The REBEL PROFILE is my favorite fixture from Elation,” Piperidis said. “I used it with gobos and prisms layered over the color coming from the SŌL I Blinders, which were used to color the back of the stage.”
He noted that Elation’s color performance remains consistent at all intensities—a critical factor for theatrical applications. “For me, it’s very important that color does not get ruined when intensity changes, especially in mixed colors.”

Flexible Control with Obsidian ONYX and NETRON
S.V.L.’s investment in Obsidian Control Systems builds on a long-standing relationship with the ONYX platform. Piperidis has worked with ONYX since 2013 and was among the first in Greece to purchase the NX1 console.
“One of the reasons I like the NX1, NX P, and NX K combination is that you can build the system based on the project,” he explained. “For small gigs I only need the NX P and NX K. For concerts, I use the NX1 and NX K, and for theater performances we use all three with an external touch screen. If I need more faders, I just add another NX P.”
Among his favorite ONYX features are Q-Blender and Inhibitive Record, both of which are especially useful for theater projects; the DyLOS pixel composer for dynamic pixel mapping; and the platform’s seamless integration with Capture lighting design software.
“The system is extremely flexible,” Piperidis added. “And the network stability—especially using NETRON products—is very good.”
Reliable Support
Piperidis also emphasized the importance of reliable support when making equipment investments.
“At Sound Vision Lights, we provide excellent after-sales support to our clients, and Panou supports us in the same way. They always provide demo units so we can test fixtures before making a decision, and their service is excellent.”
