Claypaky Ultimo Sharpy fixtures shone a light on British rock band Enter Shikari when they played during their four-week fall European headline tour. UK-based Pixeled Event Production Ltd. provided a dozen Ultimo Sharpys, Claypaky’s next-generation beam moving head that packs serious power into a sleek, lightweight design that’s IP66-rated.
Pixeled Event Production was one of the first companies in the UK to stock Ultimo Sharpy investing in an inventory of 24 fixtures. “Enter Shikari is known for their high level of production, and the audience expects a great show,” says Pixeled Director Lucy Harrison. “I wanted a punchy, small and fast beam to help do the band justice: Their music is incredibly dynamic so I need a lighting rig to match. Having great fixtures helps me create memorable moments.”
Lucy had full creative control of the lighting for the European tour. “The band has full trust in me and leaves me to my own devices,” she reports. “We wanted to continue the video tower design from their summer shows, but we swapped out some other brand fixtures for the new Ultimo Sharpy. With the shows now being indoors instead of at outdoor festivals the audience can appreciate the full light show.”
The design, featuring 14 towers on a V-shaped stage, consisted of six corner video towers, four pre-rig towers outfitted with other fixtures and four Pre-rig towers with Ultimo Sharpys mounted horizontally.
“As a Sharpy, I think Ultimo Sharpy speaks for itself,” says Lucy. “Sharpy was an icon when it was first released, and 15 years later people still run the originals. The new Ultimo is exactly what you would expect a modern day Sharpy to be: a super bright and punchy beam, now with the added bonus of CMY, a super crisp linear prism and IP66 protection.”
Lucy reports that the Ultimo Sharpys performed “flawlessly” and gives kudos to the continuing support from Claypaky. “Anyone who has dealt with Claypaky will say the same: They are so friendly and supportive with a personal, small company vibe while being one of the world’s leading lighting manufacturers.”
