MYRTLE BEACH, SC – Fans of the Myrtle Beach Pelicans were treated to a dramatically enhanced game-day experience when the team returned to Pelicans Ballpark for Opening Day on April 14. More than 4,100 square feet of state-of-the-art LED video displayswere installed throughout the venue, giving Pelicans Ballpark one of the most robust video footprints in Single-A Baseball.
Argyle, Texas-based GoVision LLC, a premier provider of large-scale LED video solutions, was selected to upgrade the ballpark’s video infrastructure to significantly improve the fan experience. The project is part of a broader $20 million offseason renovation aimed at elevating the facility to best-in-class status and meeting the Professional Development League standards of Major League Baseball.
The new LED installations provide more than seven times the park’s previous video square footage, delivering brighter visuals, sharper resolution and increased flexibility for game presentation, replays, sponsorship activation and fan engagement.
Anchoring the upgrade is a 10mm ultra-high-definition LED videoboard in right-center field, measuring 29.53’ high by 75.46’ wide. Built from the ground up, the display required extensive planning and engineering, including the construction of new piers, columns and catwalks, followed by precision installation.
Complementing the main board are three additional outfield ribbon displays, also constructed with high-resolution 10mm LED tiles. The left-field and right-center ribbon boards each measure 6.56’ high by 101.71’ wide, while the right-field ribbon spans 6.56’ high by 82.02’ wide. Collectively, the four LED displays feature more than 3.5 million pixels, creating a seamless and immersive visual environment throughout the ballpark.
“Everyone at GoVision is passionate about baseball, so projects like this are especially meaningful to us,” said Chris Curtis, Founder & Chairman of GoVision. “These new displays will completely transform how fans experience Pelicans games. They’re larger, brighter and more vivid than what you typically see at the Single-A level, and they give the club incredible creative freedom on game day.”
GoVision’s team will be on site through April to complete system testing and comprehensive training for the Pelicans’ video production staff to ensure they can fully leverage the advanced capabilities of the new LED canvases.
“When we began planning this renovation, our goal was clear: to make Pelicans Ballpark the crown jewel of Single-A Baseball,” said Chuck Greenberg, Chairman & Managing Partner of the Myrtle Beach Pelicans. “That meant investing in the very best video technology available and partnering with the top LED provider in the industry. GoVision delivered on every level, and we were so proud to unveil the new-and-improved ballpark to our fans on April 14.”
