USITT congratulates Ann Roth on her Academy Award nomination for Outstanding Costume Design for “Ma Rainey’s Black Bottom.” Roth is a five-time nominee and won the Oscar for her costume designs for "The English Patient" in 1997. She is also a 12-time Tony Award nominee and received the Tony her designs for “The Nance” in 2013.
Roth received the USITT Distinguished Achievement Award in Costume Design & Technology in 2014. She was also the subject of the ninth volume in the Institute’s “Designs Of” series. You may purchase a copy of The Designs of Ann Roth in our online store.
We also congratulate James LeBrecht on his Oscar nomination for Best Documentary for “Crip Camp.” LeBrecht is a sound designer, director, and disability rights advocate. USITT was fortunate to have Jim as a presenter at USITT21 – Virtually Anywhere.
