USITT mourns the loss of Bob Mackie, the fabled creator of some of the most imaginative costumes of the modern era. He received a Tony Award for his costume design for The Cher Show and was the recipient of nine Emmy Awards and three Oscar nominations. Mackie’s attendance at USITT25 in Columbus was a highlight of the Conference for many. While there, he gave a talkback after a screening of the documentary Bob Mackie: Naked Illusion, and hundreds of USITT attendees lined up across the Stage Expo floor to have him sign copies of the book The Art of Bob Mackie and other memorabilia. He was 87.
