German event production company hell begeistert has significantly expanded its LED lighting inventory with a large number of Elation KL PAR FC IP luminaires following a series of successful real-world tests. Based near Karlsruhe in southwest Germany, the company has over 30 years of experience lighting events, stage productions, and architecture, with this latest investment specifically addressing the needs of theatre, trade fair, and architectural clients.
Real-World Testing
The decision to expand their fleet of LED lighting was made after intensive practical testing and use on several productions, during which the KL PAR FC IP proved itself under real-world conditions. hell begeistert’s new Elation fixtures were acquired through cooperation with Elation’s German distribution partner, LMP.

Initial units were evaluated (and subsequently purchased) in summer 2024 to identify a suitable unit for open-air theatre productions. Managing Director at hell begeistert, Martin Bruckmayer, explains: “For our open-air theatre productions, we were looking for a weatherproof, bright light with good color mixing and perfect white tones. The KL PAR FC IP worked very well for this.” This initial application served as a key starting point for the subsequent decision to invest further in the fixture.
Another decisive moment came during the production of Gaia at the Karlsruhe City Church, when the originally planned LED PAR fixtures fell short of expectations, prompting a last-minute switch to the KL units. Bruckmayer comments, “So we took the KL PAR FC IP with us to bathe the church walls in blue light and found that they do that really well too.” What began as a pragmatic solution proved to be confirmation of the fixture's versatility, including its suitability for architectural applications that demand high-quality light and color.
Sustainable Transformation at Art Karlsruhe
As the technical service provider for Messe Karlsruhe, hell begeistert is responsible for rigging and lighting at Art Karlsruhe, a leading fair for classical and contemporary art. This includes illuminating large-scale stands, a task previously accomplished using PAR 64s with CP62 incandescent lamps.
Bruckmayer explains: “The light from the CP62 is brilliant, penetrates the daylight-flooded halls very well, and organizers and exhibitors were always satisfied with it. However, with regard to the trade fair’s sustainability goals, the requirement arose to switch to LED lighting.” As part of the transition, various lights were evaluated, including the KL PAR FC IP, which “performed exceptionally well, so a larger quantity was added to our inventory.”

CP62-style Elliptical Lens
The KL PAR FC IP is a compact, IP65-rated LED PAR light with a 360-watt RGBMA engine that delivers up to 12,000 lumens. It excels at saturated colors, pastel shades, and precisely tunable white light, and features a CRI of 92 and TLCI of 95. Four interchangeable lenses (11°, 22°, 30°, 52°) expand its applications, enabling flexible use as a key light, fill light, or area light.
For hell begeistert, in addition to output and color reproduction, the interchangeable lens system is a standout feature, with the rotatable CP62-style elliptical lens especially relevant. “We love this lens,” Bruckmayer emphasizes. “To our knowledge, no other manufacturer offers anything like it.”
Previous Elation Experience
This investment builds on prior experience with Elation products, including the SIXPAR 100 and SIXPAR 200 IP, which impressed the hell begeistert team with their reliability and performance.
“We previously had the SIXPAR lights and were very satisfied with them,” Bruckmayer said. “When they reached the end of their lifespan, we temporarily switched to another manufacturer because Elation didn't have a suitable replacement in their portfolio at the time. All the more reason to be pleased that the KL PAR FC IP is now available – a powerful, very versatile LED PAR with excellent color rendering.”
Future Applications
With its significant investment in the KL PAR FC IP, hell begeistert is well-positioned for a broad range of applications in theatre, trade fairs, architecture, and stage productions, while simultaneously relying on a fixture that has already proven itself in a variety of scenarios.
