Behind the Scenes Announces Fall Training Opportunities to Strengthen Mental Health and Workplace Safety

This fall, Behind the Scenes is bringing practical mental health and bystander intervention skills to entertainment professionals with a series of training opportunities.

Supporting the people around us doesn't have to wait for a crisis. These trainings give entertainment professionals practical skills they can use every day—to notice when someone may be struggling, step in when something isn't right, and help create a healthier work community. Peer support starts with you!

BTS will offer Mental Health First Aid (MHFA) courses on September 24, October 18, and November 15. MHFA teaches participants how to recognize signs of mental health and substance use challenges, respond, and connect people with support and resources. Successfully completing this course will yield a 3 year certificate in Mental Health First Aid. 

The course fee is $125 and IATSE members may be eligible for reimbursement through the IATSE Training Trust Fund. Scholarships are available to those who are not eligible for reimbursement. Visit byshelp.org/mhfa to register. 

On October 5 at 6pm Eastern, BTS will offer the final Bystander Intervention in the Entertainment Workplace webinar of 2026. This highly interactive session is a free 90-minute session that gives participants practical tools for recognizing potentially harmful situations in which people are being bullied or harassed and safely taking action. 

Participants will learn the 5Ds of bystander intervention and how to safely intervene if you witness a coworker being bullied or intimidated through real world entertainment workplace scenarios. Advance registration is required: btshelp.org/bystander
