The fall 2021 issue of TD&T includes articles which explore how theatre and live entertainment will emerge from the pandemic. Our authors investigate how we can approach the reopening of our spaces with a better understanding workload balance, including advice from Ted Kraus on how to say "no" so that we can reopen with more realistic and healthy workloads. Christin Essin analyzes patterns that emerged in interviews with Broadway stagehands as they, too, look towards reopening and try to carry over the lessons learned about workloads and life during the shutdown. Matt Stern looks at the ways in which stage management can respond to increasing awareness of how our workspaces need to adapt to be more inclusive, humane, and productive for all production team members. And Tammy Honesty discusses how a multi-campus academic project to create a LORT-like experience to replace missing summer opportunities for design students, created out of necessity during the pandemic, can be a model for increasing access to design collaborations and new ways of thinking for students and theatre companies.
