KEYNOTE: John Collette, Digital Artist and Curator & Professor of Motion Media Professor at SCAD. His career spans 35 years in both academic management and teaching, creative direction and media production, from online video development to large scale media exhibits. He has presented as part of the Parsons Lecture Series with AIGA NY, International Digital Media Arts Association, SCAC, and has published with SIGGRAPH among others.

Zachary Borovay – Director of Media Design, Visual Terrain

As the Director of Media Design for Visual Terrain, Zachary Borovay is widely recognized as an expert in the field of entertainment technology and design. He has created projections for a dozen Broadway shows including the smash hit musical Rock of Ages. He has designed media and special effects for clients such as Walt Disney Imagineering, Universal Studios, the Radio City Music Hall Christmas Spectacular, the Smithsonian as well as events for Royal Caribbean, PBS, Rihanna/Fenty, Tribeca Film Festival and the TEA Thea Awards.

Kerstin L. Hovland - Co-Founder / Partner at Electronic Countermeasures, LLC

Kerstin Larissa Hovland is a post-disciplinary artist specializing in pixels, programming, and light for music and performance. She is one half of the creative duo of Electronic Countermeasures . She holds an MFA in Experimental Animation and Integrated Media from California Institute of the Arts and a BFA in Visual Communication with a minor in Computer Science from Iowa State University.  She has shown work and performed at The Contemporary Austin Museum, The Ruhrtriennale, The Center for Living Arts, The Musser Art Center, and Automata.  She has also served as adjunct faculty in both the Video for Performance and Art & Technology programs at California Institute of the Arts.

Marc Cloutier – Design Services Manager , ETP Brainhub

As the Design Services Manager at ETP Brainhub, Marc Cloutier produces countless design projects for all different disciplines of live events.  With a BFA in Theatrical Design & Technology from Northern Kentucky University’s School of the Arts, his career has allowed him the opportunity to expand into the conceptual as well as technical design.  His expertise is the utilization of various 3D modeling, rendering, and animation software to construct and present his projects.

A look at how the design process works from an idea to a finished technical drawing.  Covering the use of various tools to deliver different concepts and visuals for the client.  Using examples and case-studies to show the progression of a simple 2D plan, to a 3D model, to rendered animation, you will see the different methods that can be utilized to bring a project to life.

Michael Bateman – Technical Solution Specialist, Pixera

Before joining Pixera as a trainer and Technical Solutions Specialist, Bateman was an Assistant Lighting Supervisor at The Public Theater where he worked on numerous large scale LED practical projects that integrated with video. He has also spent time in architectural lighting design, on tour with Marvel Universe Live as a video technician, and was a freelance lighting and video designer in Arizona. He has a passion for teaching, learning, and playing Dungeons and Dragons.

In this session we will discuss which software a prospective video technician or designer might need when starting their career, or what new software should be looked at for continuing education. We will go over different software in numerous categories like modeling, media server, content creation, video editing, LED processor, productivity, streaming, 3D engines, and various others. While these softwares won't be taught in depth, we will discuss methods of best to learn new software and how to remain a perpetual student in the rapidly changing video industry.

Jim Testa is the owner of Show Sage LLC, an audiovisual technology provider, and Pixel Mosaic LLC, as media creation and execution studio.  Jim and his team specialize in providing multi-channel audio and video solutions and supporting services for corporate and live events, theatres, museums, corporate meeting centers, welcome centers, theme parks, cruise ships, retail, and other applications.  Prior to stepping into the AV arena, Jim spent twenty-five years as an IT and management consultant.

Cory Froke

Cory has spent the last 20 years spearheading video operations at the world’s leading production and installation companies, including Chaos Visual Productions, PRG, DWP Live, Green Hippo Media Technology, and most recently, 4Wall Entertainment.  Known for designing and engineering solutions to the most complex video projects, including the KAOS Nightclub at the Palms, the Energy City exhibit at the Houston Museum of Natural Science, Criss Angel’s two residency shows at Planet Hollywood in Las Vegas, as well as many Disney Spectaculars throughout the world. In his current role as Senior Director of A/V Integration for 4Wall, Cory is responsible for bringing the bleeding edge video technology employed in concert touring and live event productions to the permanent installation market.

Eric Ludacer

Eric Ludacer is currently the Director of Business Development (North America) for Ventuz. He has a varied path in the Entertainment and Live Industry world with over 25 years’ experience.  Originally trained as a Lighting Designer at the North Carolina School of the Arts. Once Graduated he cut his teeth as a technician/operator for both Lighting and Video on many international Broadway tours. After several years he Joined Cirque Du Soleil for the Creation/Install of two of their major Resident Show productions. First as the Head of Projections for the Beatles “LOVE” then as Head of Lighting, Projections and Special FX for Michael Jackson’s “ONE”. This is where working with state-of-the-art technology and some of the best technicians/Designers in the world he increased his systems design infrastructure and management chops. After a stint as Video Director for the Britney Spears “Piece of ME” Resident Show he decided to switch to the manufacturing side of the business by joining Christie Digital as the Manager of Solutions Architecture for Pandoras Box. Here he handled many projects from soup to nuts including “Jewel” at Changi Airport and the Crystal Corridor at Okada Manilla. Seeing the recent advancements and capabilities of real time content creation was what lured the change to Ventuz Technologies. He is excited to attend the symposium to meet new people and share his knowledge about all things Digital Media.
