Visiting Assistant Professor of Theatre (Lighting)

The Department of Theatre and Dance in the School of Arts, Media, and Communication at Texas A&M University–Corpus Christi (TAMU-CC) is inviting applications for a one-year Visiting Assistant Professor of Theatre. The Department is seeking an accomplished instructor of Lighting Design & Technical Theatre to join the faculty beginning fall 2025. Primary responsibilities include teaching Lighting Design, Stagecraft, and other courses based on candidate expertise.

The candidate in this position will have the opportunity to apply for a full-time, tenure-track position in the department during the academic year.

The Department of Theatre & Dance at TAMU-CC is a 10-member faculty, 120+ major program offering a Bachelor of Arts degree with concentrations in Acting/Directing, Design/Tech, Teacher Certification, as well as a Minor in Theatre and a Minor in Dance. The department season includes 5 main stage theatre productions, 3 dance productions, and various student-led productions each year which are supported with full-time technical staff and work-study appointments, in addition to the faculty.

Texas A&M University-Corpus Christi is an accredited institutional member of the National Association of Schools of Theatre. Construction of a new music/theatre/dance/arts building began in May of 2024 and completion is expected in Fall of 2026.

Required Qualifications:

· A terminal degree in Theatre
· Evidence of excellence in professional lighting design, practices & communication, or equivalent skills
· Demonstrated commitment to supporting students/collaborators from varied backgrounds

Preferred Qualifications:

· Experience teaching lighting and/or foundational technical courses at the collegiate level
· Experience with sound design and audio systems/software
· Experience with theatrical projections/digital media/entertainment production
