Call for Build Team: US National and Emerging Exhibits for the 2027 Prague Quadrennial

November 10, 2023

Dear Potential Build Team Members,

USITT is excited to announce the call for applicants to fill the Technical Director and host institution role for the 2027 Prague Quadrennial US National and Emerging Exhibits.

The Prague Quadrennial is a prestigious international event celebrating the intersection of performance, design, and architecture, showcasing the most innovative and inspiring works worldwide.

We are seeking passionate and talented Universities or scene shops who will play a crucial role in bringing the US National and Emerging Exhibits to life. The host institution will have the unique opportunity to contribute your skills and expertise to help realize the U.S. installations that will captivate audiences from all over the globe.

Here are three essential aspects to consider for the call:

Collaboration and Creativity:

The Build Team will work closely with producers, curators, designers, and artists to translate their visions into tangible exhibits. We value creative problem-solving, out-of-the-box thinking, and a passion for pushing boundaries. Your contribution will shape the narrative and aesthetic of the US National and Emerging Exhibits, making it an unforgettable experience for visitors.

Technical Proficiency:

The Technical Director and team should have experience with scenic construction and finishes using non-standard materials. Entertainment and production logistics: these exhibits will travel from the host institution to the USITT conference and Prague, Czech Republic. Understanding and implementing video, lighting, and sound technologies enable the showcase of the USA-selected designs.

Time Commitment and Flexibility:

The Prague Quadrennial is a globally recognized event, and the preparation and installation of the exhibits require dedicated effort and time. By applying as the host institution, you should be available and committed to working within the established timelines. We understand that unforeseen circumstances may arise, but your flexibility and ability to adapt will be crucial to completing the project.
