Sixty-two thousand people witnessed the King’s Cup Final 2025 at King Abdullah Sport City in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, where Claypaky Skylos fixtures delivered piercing beam effects.

A sea of light and color enveloped the sold-out stadium in a visual spectacle created by SLS Production, which provided 498 lighting fixtures, including 44 Claypaky Skylos. 

Lighting was woven into a cohesive visual narrative that guided the audience through pre-match anticipation, the immersive half-time show, and the climactic emotion of the trophy lift ceremony.  The event underscored Saudi Arabia’s rising prowess in large-scale live entertainment production and set a high bar for future sporting celebrations.

The Skylos fixtures featured prominently across all the segments of the King’s Cup Final.  “They served as bold visual accents – beam eye candy – for both the live audience in the stadium and those watching the broadcast,” says Alex Douglas, with AD Design was the grandMA3 programmer and operator for 555 Global Live Experience NZCO on the event.  “I used them in a constant fanned-in configuration to outline the pitch and enhance the atmosphere.  During the main time-coded half-time show, they were used in sweeping stings, ballyhoo sequences, and impressive beam fly-out effects. 

“I also incorporated the circular prism on a fly-in look and programmed them in red and yellow to reflect the team colors.  Their output was sharp and consistent, and their color rendering, particularly in solid beam looks, was excellent.”

He notes that, from his perspective, “Skylos units were a smart choice due to their exceptional brightness relative to their size.  They're also widely stocked across the region, which makes supplementing with additional units straightforward if needed.”

Douglas had prior experience using Skylos during the Arabian Gulf Cup earlier this year and considers the fixtures part of his toolkit for stadium-size events.  “In large stadium shows, you need fixtures with the power to cut through competing light sources like LED screens, stadium lighting, lasers, and sometimes uneven atmospheric conditions.  Spots or washes often get lost in open-air environments.  High-powered, laser-like beams such as the Skylos are essential in delivering impactful visuals that register across such a massive scale.”
