Danley Receives Provisional Patent For New Cohearix Lens Technology
June 12, 2025
Danley Sound Labs announces the receipt of a provisional patent on a new acoustic lens technology. Dubbed Cohearix Lens Technology, the technology will be used in development of new Danley loudspeakers for release later this year.
“Tom and I discussed what the next iteration of our technologies was for Danley,” said Mike Hedden, chief steward in charge at Danley Sound Labs. “We’ve never compromised on audio quality and always sought to build the best possible loudspeaker. This Cohearix technology allows us to do that for the next generation of Danley loudspeakers.”
“Tom Danley and our engineering team are brilliant,” said Skip Welch, director of sales and business development at Danley Sound Labs. “Cohearix Lens Technology is built on the foundation of our patented Synergy Horn among a myriad of other elements of our technology. If you consider how our Paraline technology works, Cohearix advances on those principles in a new way.”
Products leveraging Danley’s Paraline technology can turn a point source driver into a planar wavefront or a curved point source wavefront that diverges or converges depending on the shape. While this incredible technology, Danley’s SBH speakers actually feature a long horn with an effective path length of over 25 feet in a multi-cone column loudspeaker. These loudspeakers yield superior performance, unparalleled pattern control making them a perfect option for anywhere intelligibility is required in reverberant spaces.
Cohearix is different in that it allows high frequency drivers to be placed as close as sitting edge-to-edge. With each “bowtie” producing one segment of a much larger overall radiation arc without a seam they sum into a true single source which was the original intent of Danley’s patented Synergy Horn.
“I’ve said before that our competition will see how many boxes they need to use to create more sound,” said Hedden. “We at Danley work to put more sound in fewer boxes. Cohearix gives us a way to combine more drivers closer together allowing us to put more sound in a given box. It also is going to allow us to create new products and issue new product lines that will be game-changing.”
Danley’s first loudspeaker using the new Cohearix Lens Technology is scheduled for release in 2025 and a brand new family of loudspeakers is in development. For more information on Cohearix Lens Technology or any of Danley’s technologies visit danleysoundlabs.com.
