September 30, 2025

Sydney, Australia -- The HELM, a global expert in cinematic broadcast solutions for live productions, today announced the appointments of Carlos Chu as Vice President, Business Development - APAC, and Peter Crithary as Business Development Manager - Americas. Both bring decades of international expertise in live production, reinforcing The HELM’s expansion strategy and global reach.

Based in Tokyo, Chu joins The HELM from ARRI, where he most recently served as Senior Vice President, Camera Systems – APAC, where he established ARRI’s legal entities in Japan and Korea, built its North Asia presence, and drove rapid market expansion through strategic sales leadership and client engagement. With more than 18 years’ experience in premium imaging and production technology, he has consistently delivered double-digit revenue growth across Greater China, Southeast Asia and ANZ. At The HELM, Chu will lead business development across Asia-Pacific, building strategic partnerships and unlocking new opportunities in live entertainment.

Crithary brings over two decades of experience at ARRI and Sony, where he helped shape the global adoption of cinematic imaging. As ARRI’s Vice President of Live Entertainment, he oversaw cinematic live productions at events such as the Coachella Festival, while leading the company’s expansion into broadcast, sports, concert touring, and corporate markets. Earlier, he played a key role in global launch campaigns for technologies including the ALEXA 35, ARRI’s optics and lighting product lines, and Sony’s CineAlta line of motion picture cameras like the VENICE camera system. Based in New York, he will focus on expanding The HELM’s presence across the Americas.

“Carlos and Peter bring the kind of experience and client focus that embody The HELM’s ethos of delivering world-class cinematic live experiences,” says Josh Moffat, Co-Founder and CEO at The HELM. “We are delighted to welcome them into our family of global experts shaping the future of live entertainment production, and their international expertise will further strengthen our presence across APAC and the Americas.”

“The HELM’s reputation for engineering ingenuity and flawless delivery is unmatched,” says Chu. “I’m energised to be joining such a forward-thinking team and look forward to helping clients deliver unforgettable live experiences across Asia-Pacific.”

“Joining The HELM at this pivotal stage is exciting,” adds Crithary. “I’ve dedicated my career to helping clients realise bold creative visions, and The HELM leads the way in delivering cinematic live productions at the highest technical standard.”

The appointments build on a year of strong momentum for The HELM, following its joint venture with VA Hire and the launch the ARRI ALEXA 35 Live multicam solution, already deployed in flagship projects across APAC and the Middle East.

“Together, these milestones reaffirm The HELM’s position at the forefront of cinematic broadcast innovation, delivering next-generation workflows,” concludes Moffat. “As we look ahead, our focus remains on investing in best-in-class talent and innovative technologies to raise the benchmark for cinematic multicam production worldwide, while helping our clients realise ever more ambitious creation visions.”
