Honoring Our USITT Volunteers During National Volunteer Month

April 12, 2024

In the spirit of National Volunteer Month, it’s with immense gratitude that we extend our heartfelt appreciation to the dedicated volunteers who donate their time and energy throughout the year to USITT. Without their unwavering commitment and passion, our educational events, Board service, mentorship programs, committees, commissions, Annual Conference & Stage Expo, and more would not exist!

Thank you to our Board of Directors, led by our esteemed president Carolyn Satter! These leaders foster collaboration and innovation and continue to uphold and support the mission and values of USITT, ensuring that we remain at the forefront of the industry.

We are grateful for the tireless efforts of our Commission Leaders across various disciplines including Architecture, Costume Design & Technology, Digital Media, Education, Engineering, Lighting Design & Technology, Management, Safety & Health, Scene Design & Technology, Sound Design & Technology, and Technical Production! The leaders of our Commissions create year-round educational and industry events, as well as the majority of our Annual Conference’s programming. They bring our Members content catered to their interests that educates, informs, and inspires them to be the best live entertainment technicians and artists they can be!

Our dedicated committees, including the Awards, Bylaws, Development, IDEAS, Membership, Nominations, Publications, International, and Research and Creative Endeavors work tirelessly behind the scenes to build and strengthen the foundation upon which USITT stands. Their meticulous planning and strategic initiatives drive the success of our organization, shaping the experiences of our Members and attendees.

A special acknowledgment goes to the members of our Conference Committee, whose creativity and attention to detail breathe life into every aspect of our Annual Conference & Stage Expo. Their passion for excellence is evident in the carefully crafted design and seamless execution of Conference.

Thank you to all of our mentors who sign on each year to help support the artists and technicians of tomorrow. Every year, students and early career professionals sign on to get help and guidance from USITT’s industry pros, and our mentor volunteers step up to the plate to help out! Our SMMP and Gateway programs are built on the passion of volunteer mentors who give their time and heart to their mentees and USITT.

We also extend our gratitude to our Conference Guest Services and Conference Office Angels, whose friendly faces ensure that every attendee feels welcomed and supported throughout the event. Their dedication to service embodies the spirit of volunteerism that is at the heart of USITT.

Last but certainly not least, we express our deepest appreciation to our Conference Assistants, whose efforts keep the gears of our Conference turning smoothly. From managing session rooms to assisting with registration, their work is instrumental in creating a memorable and enriching experience for all.

As we celebrate National Volunteer Month, let us take a moment to reflect on the profound impact the work of our volunteers has had on our USITT community. To every volunteer who dedicates their time, energy, and expertise to advancing the mission of USITT, we offer our sincerest thanks. Your passion, dedication, and generosity throughout the year inspire us all and serve as a testament to the power of collaboration and collective action in shaping the future of our industry
