Training Ground X Cirque du Soleil Takes Students on Technical Adventure
May 16, 2025
Participants of our 2025 Training Ground in partnership with Cirque du Soleil spent three days in Las Vegas experiencing interactive training with a collective of our industry's illustrious trainers, including Cirque du Soleil, TAIT, Meyer Sound, Christie Digital, and ROBE Lighting!
Each morning of the three-day training, the cohort of training ground students were given a tour around one of Cirque du Soleil's actively running productions, including Mystère, "O", and KÀ. The cohort then attended performances of Mystère and KÀ after their tours and enjoyed a networking dinner after their tour of "O".
The training was broken into six different interest tracks, with each experiencing uniquely curated content. Those on the lighting track spent the week learning how to take apart and reconstruct moving light fixtures, while the projections track spent their days learning the software used by Cirque, programming, and learning Christie Digital's laser projectors.
Our selected stage managers shadowed individuals from the Cirque du Soleil stage management team for each show they toured to learn the ins and outs. Those on the wardrobe track spent time constructing and working with the Cirque du Soleil wardrobe team for three of their shows. Our audio track spent each day in three different Cirque du Soleil theatres learning how to mix and adjust audio in various set-ups, while our automation track worked to program movement out of truss and other equipment.
Thank you to our students, Cirque du Soleil, and training partners for making this event successful. Click here to access more photos from Training Ground.
