Utah Shakespeare Festival is exploring the role of the Production Manager for this week’s Virtual Seminar Grove – The Role of the Production Manager in Cultivating Creativity. This seminar takes place on Thursday, Nov. 5, at 1 p.m. EST/ 11 a.m. MST. This seminar will stream live on the USF Facebook page.
The role of the production manager is complex and multi-faceted. It involves managing the creation and maintenance of scenery, costumes, lighting, sound, etc. But it is more than managing; it also involves developing a process and atmosphere that allows artists to do their best creative work. This seminar features three production managers working at other regional theatres: Ray Inkel, Trevor Long, and Becky Merold. All three have worked at the Festival before, Inkel and Merold as production managers. The seminar will be moderated by the Festival’s current production manager, Richard Girtain.
