WSD 2022 Submission Deadlines Approaching

May 26, 2021

WSD 2022 will be held in Calgary, Canada, from Aug. 6-16, 2022. Any USITT member selected by the jury for exhibition is eligible for up to $2,300 as a travel grant to attend WSD 2022! This includes both the World Stage Design Exhibition and Technical Invention Prize (TIP).

This event will feature a major exhibition of performance designs and a full schedule of workshops and performances, all curated from entries from around the world. In addition to recognizing performance design, space design, set, sound, costume lighting, projection, and alternative design, this WSD will acknowledge achievement in three specific areas: Indigenous design for performance, ecoscenography, and mixed reality scenography and design.

  • Deadline for submitting to the Professional Designer level of the exhibition is June 15, 2021.
  • Deadline for submitting to the Emerging Designer level of the exhibition is July 30.
  • Deadline for submitting performances, workshops, and panel presentations for the Scenofest is July 10.

World Stage Design acknowledges that the performing arts community is a genuinely diverse community. We commit to increased visibility for equity-deserving communities and seek equity and diversity in all of its facets. Diversity includes, but is not limited to, race, origins, ethnicities, religions, gender identities, sexual orientations, abilities and backgrounds.

Through Scenofest, we will create awareness and a shared sense of responsibility among attendees, planning committees, juries, and the public to promote a culture at these events that values equity, diversity, and inclusion.
