The Animal Crew Chief supports the Animal Department Supervisor in providing leadership to team members through positive influence, care, support, and accountability. They serve in coordinating and supporting the caretaking, training, and handling teams within the Animals Department.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

- Actively promote and exemplify a culture that upholds our mission, values and safety statements.
- Support and uphold the vision and direction of the team by building trust and teamwork throughout the entire department and all other show run department as set forth by the Animal Department Supervisor.
- Demonstrate a depth of care and focus to the welfare of the animals.
- Collaborate with the Show Operations Leadership Team as point of contact for the Animals Department regarding any show related concerns.
- Actively participate in scheduled 1 on 1’s, team meetings/team building exercises, department team leadership meetings, lead training/meetings, new show meeting and lead the Animal teams in the absence of the Animal Department Supervisor.
- Under the direction of the Supervisor, conduct regular 1 on 1’s and daily team meetings in order to provide support, positive influence and accountability while also placing a high priority on the needs, objectives and challenges of other teams.
- Be involved in the hiring, interview process, and training of new hires in regards to show run information.
- Maintain the integrity of the show through watching the show on a regular basis, and in partnership with other team leaders.
- Attend design meetings to ensure the Animals Department’s competence and strategy to support the Director’s vision.

Requirements

Prerequisites:

- Experience with a wide variety of animals, including their care and training.
- Desire and ability to learn, develop, train, and serve.
- Ability to remain calm and professional under pressure.
- Ability to work well in a team atmosphere as well as working independently by leading a project or task without direct supervision.
- High level of concern for both the professional and personal welfare of people by exhibiting humility, self-awareness, and a teachable spirit.
- Excellent communication and listening skills.
- Attention to detail and organizational and planning skills.

Education and / or Experience:  Bachelor’s degree with at least 2 years of animal, theater, and leadership experience preferred.
