Located in the idyllic Theatre town of Ashland, Oregon, home of the internationally renown Oregon Shakespeare Festival, the Theatre Department at Southern Oregon University (SOU) seeks candidates for a full-time, tenure-track Assistant Professor position in Theatre — Fabrication and Technical Direction. The successful candidate will supervise scene and property shops and instruct students on fabricating scenic elements for Theatre productions. Attendance at regular production meetings and some rehearsals is expected. The position will provide technical support for department performances and manage the scene shop’s equipment, inventory, and budgets.
Assigned courses may include Stagecraft, Stage Properties, Technical Drawing for the Arts, Welding, and Theater Practice, among others. Additional responsibilities include advising, curriculum development, research, professional affiliations as appropriate, and other duties as assigned.
The successful candidate will possess a terminal degree in Theatre or a related field, university teaching experience, and professional experience in fabrication and/or technical direction.
