Duties and Responsibilities:
The Costume Manager will manage the shop budget, inventories and personnel. The successful candidate will work collaboratively on all theatre productions to execute all costume, wigs, makeup, and costume crafts. Additionally, the individual will teach two courses annually in the following areas of content: cutting/draping, flat and/or period patterning, costume construction, costume crafts, and makeup.
Minimum qualifications:
Master’s degree in costume design, costume technology, or related field and at least 2 years of costume shop supervision in an educational or professional costume shop. Must demonstrate knowledge of costume construction, costume technology and crafts, costume history and design with dedication to artistic excellence, healthy collaboration and communication with colleagues and students. Proficient with standard costume shop equipment. Must be skilled in pattern draping and drafting. Ability to manage budgets, schedules, and a diverse workforce with varying skill levels. The ability to organize and execute multiple assignments under specific time constraints is essential. Excellent organizational, communication and collaborative skills are necessary. High level of professionalism, good judgement and discretion required at all times.
Preferred qualifications:
3+ years of costume shop supervision and management experience. Experience with computer aided pattern drafting, period and specialty costume patterning and craft skills. Ability to develop and organize new curriculum to meet the program requirements and established goals. Teaching experience preferred.
